Trakai is the ancient capital of Lithuania where the residence of the rulers of the great Principality of Lithuania has never been located. Today, Trakai and his famous castle became a real tourist center. The resort is located in a state park surrounded by a magnificent lake of Galva. Most of the resort is an island of 2 kilometres long.

One of the islands of Lake Galvee has the highest visibility and pride of Trakaya, a single medieval fortress. The castle served as a defensive building and a prison, and today is the only island castle in Eastern Europe that visits many tourists from all over the world every year. Since 1962, the castle has been housed by the Historical Museum, and festivals, concerts and other recreational activities have been regularly held.
