To date, it is not clear whether Christopher Columbus has been the pioneer of this island, but it is well known that only 200 years after the expedition of this great traveller, there has been a permanent reign of the Europeans. During these years, Kanuan was a real rebel island. Rabbis, which escaped the negligence of Barbados, as well as free seafarers, have joined the Arabs who resisted colonization. Black Karibs called the people who put Kanuan at the time.
In 1979, Kanuan entered the independent State of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines within the British Commonwealth. Today, tourism is a major source of economic prosperity for the entire State and the island of Canouan.
Canouan can play golf. Then go up to the 900-foot Royal Mountain (Mont Royal), bathe and dive in warm waves on the beaches of the Mahault or Carenage Bay.

The hottest months are July and August, whose average daily temperature rises to +32° C and night reaches +27 °C The annual rainfall rate is between 1,500 and 3,700 mm. The rainiest months are from September to November, with eight rainy days a month. The dryest is the time between February and April, when the number of rainy days reaches three per month.
In summer time is eight hours away from Moscow (minus 8 hours) and 7 hours in winter.
A little from the Tamarind Bay on the north end of the island is a beach protected by a broad reef, one of the best beaches in the Grenadines. Coral reef Tobago is the national sea park of the Caribbean. Podkov's Living Reef (Horseshoe) is perfect for diving.
