The Dalton School, originally known as the Children ' s University School, is a private university prep school in the upper east of New York. He is a member of the League of Interscoll New York (the New York Interschool League) and of the Ivy Preparatory School League. The school occupies three buildings, all located in Manhattan: Middle and High Schools 4-12 are located on the 108th East 89th Street (108 East 89th Street), often referred to as the Dalton School or Big Dalton School. In anticipation of achieving a balance between the talents of each child and the needs of the growing American community, Helen Parkhurst has created an educational model that meets the progressive spirit of that century. The main objectives of the programme were to provide an educational programme for every student under his or her requirements, interests and abilities; to develop students ' social skills and a sense of responsibility towards others.

History

The Dalton School, originally known as the Children ' s University School, was founded by Helen Parkhurst in 1919. This time was accompanied by an educational reform. Recognition

Over the years, the Dalton Plan has been taken as a model for many schools around the world, including schools in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Chile, the Czech Republic, England, Korea, the Netherlands and Taiwan. There are also three schools based on the Dalton Plan in Japan. Lead teachers from public and private schools and universities from the United States and abroad travelled to Dalton to meet the learning system.

Dalton was ranked fifth in the 2003 rating by the number of students who graduated from school and study at Harvard, Princeton or Yale.

In 2003, Wall Street Journal ranked the U.S. Secondary Schools in the United States, whose graduates are enrolled in 10 best colleges, including Ivy League schools. Dalton got eighth. In 2007, another rating of WSJ produced a list of high schools in the country based only on the 2007 student rating of Harvard University (Harvard University), Princeton University (Princeton University), MIT, Williams College (Williams College), Pomona College, College of Schwartsmore College, University of Chicago (Swarthmothe College). Delivery

The enrolment at the Dalton School from kindergarten to third grade is based on school assessments, ERB testing and interviews. For grades 4 to 12, enrolment is based on school grades, writing, interviews and standard testing (Dalton accepts both ISEE and SSAT testing). Candidates are given notice of enrolment, refusal or transfer to the waiting list for February. In recent years, parents are very concerned about the high competition.

Students with dark skin colour in the First Programme (The First Program) now account for 38 per cent of the primary school in Dalton. In the school year 2008-2009, 44 per cent of children in the kindergarten were black. Financial assistance of $6.5 million is intended to compensate for socio-economic disparities in schools.

Dalton School Buildings

At school, education is available from kindergarten to grade 12. The building on the 108th East 89th Street (108 East 89th Street), known as the Big Dalton, is designed for 4-12 classes, as well as theatre, music and art studios and administrative space. A separate building known as the Small Dalton, located on the 91st Street (91st Street) between Park Avenue (Park Avenue) and Madison Avenue (Madison Avenue) has classrooms for children from kindergarten and for the first three classes.
